The Economic Development Administration (EDA) announced approval of the Commonwealth Regional Council’s Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS) Update on November 10, 2020. The CEDS Update was completed to add new CRC members – Cumberland and Nottoway counties. Now all seven counties of the CRC (Amelia, Buckingham, Charlotte, Cumberland, Lunenburg, Nottoway and Prince Edward) will be eligible to apply for EDA grant funds for identified projects.
The CRC will next be applying for Economic Development District (EDD) status. This will allow the CRC to receive annual EDA planning funds and will also assist the CRC in meeting the goals of the approved CEDS.
