CRC Affordable Workforce Housing Grant Program
The Commonwealth Regional Council (CRC) is the recipient of Planning District Commission Housing Development Program funds from Virginia Housing to establish affordable workforce housing in the CRC region. The CRC region consists of the Counties of Amelia, Buckingham, Charlotte, Cumberland, Lunenburg, Nottoway, and Prince Edward. The CRC held a first round of funding in 2022 and funded $1,559,199.00 to establish affordable workforce housing units. Projects were funded in Charlotte, Lunenburg, Nottoway, and Prince Edward Counties. The CRC held a second round of funding in February 2024 and funded $95,000 to establish an affordable workforce housing unit in Cumberland County. The CRC has a remaining $225,357.46 available to be distributed for new projects.
The CRC is now seeking funding applications from Experienced Housing Partners to establish affordable workforce housing units within the CRC region by June 30, 2025. Eligible Applicants include – member local governments, and experienced affordable housing developers, both non-profit and for profit.
Applications are due – Monday, April 8, 2024.

The CRC provides Grant Writing services to member localities and nonprofits (501C3s) of our region – free of charge .
